Chewy Chocolate Turtle Cookies


  • 5 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 7-ounce packages chocolate chip muffin mix
  • 48 foil-wrapped chocolate covered caramels unwrapped
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
  2. In medium microwaveable-safe bowl, microwave chocolate and butter together for 1 minute, until melted. Stir until smooth. Stir in sweetened condensed milk.
  3. Stir in muffin mix until well blended.
  4. Roll tablespoonfuls of dough into balls; dip bottoms into chopped pecans. Place dough balls, nut side up, 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake 6-8 minutes, until edges of cookies begin to crack, but centers are still soft.
  6. Press a chocolate caramel candy in the center of each cookie; let stand 2 minutes, to soften. Swirl caramel with a toothpick or tip of a knife. Place on cooling rack and cool completely.
